Peer Review Policy
Advances of Mathematics (China) employs a single-blind peer review process. This policy is aligned with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
1. Initial Editorial Screening
· Upon receipt, each manuscript undergoes an preliminary assessment by the Editorial Office within 3 days for:
o Relevance to the journal's scope
o Compliance with author guidelines (e.g., completeness of author’s information, manuscript formatting, etc.)
o Plagiarism and similarity screening.
o Overall clarity of presentation
· Submissions that do not meet the journal's minimum quality standards may be returned to the author(s) for correction or rejected at this stage.
2. Editorial Evaluation
· Each manuscript that passes the initial editorial screening will be assigned a manuscript ID and sent to one handling editor from the Editorial Board for editorial evaluation within 30 days. The handling editor may
o Reject the manuscript;
o Ask the author to revise the manuscript prior to peer review;
o Initiate the peer review step, i.e., suggest reviewers to review the manuscript, and review the manuscript by him/herself if necessary;
o Suggest one other editor to handle this step.
3. Peer Review
· Manuscripts that pass the editorial evaluation are sent to at least two (2) independent reviewers with recognized expertise in the relevant field.
· A single-blind peer review system is applied:
o Reviewers know the identity of the authors.
o Authors do not know the identity of the reviewers.
· Invited reviewers are asked to confirm their availability within 14 days. If no response is received, alternative reviewers will be invited.
· Reviewers who accept the invitation are expected to submit their reports within 90 days. The due date may be extended based on the request of the reviewers.
4. Editorial Decision
· Based on the reviewers' reports, the handling Editor may suggest one of the following decisions:
o Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication.
o Revision: The manuscript requires modifications. The revised manuscript will be re-evaluated by the original reviewers if the revision is substantial.
o Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's standards for publication.
· The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief upon the handling Editor’s suggestion.
5. Revision, Resubmission
· Authors receiving a revision decision must submit a detailed, point-by-point response to each reviewer's comment.
· The revised manuscript must be submitted within 60 days. Extensions may be granted upon request by contacting the editorial office at shuxuejinzhan@math.pku.edu.cn.
